You’re able to create different folders to sort and file your matter documents in the Correspondence List. Your folders are displayed at the top of your Correspondence List.

View Your Folders

You can view which document folder or sub-folder you're in from the Folder field of the Correspondence List using either the:

Folder field

Folder navigation panel

If you have a sub-folder, use the Folder field to navigate to the different levels. In the above example, if you're viewing documents in the Letters folder and wish to go back to the top level folder, simply click Folder Home icon in the Folder field or click the Matter folder in the Folder navigation panel.

To show or hide the Folder navigation panel, click Folder navigation panel icon next to the Folder field.

Create a Document Folder

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Click under the Correspondence List.
Enter the Folder Name then click OK.

To create a sub-folder, follow the same steps as above within an existing folder.

Move Documents to a Folder

Select the documents on the Correspondence List that you wish to move into a folder.

To select multiple documents, hold the Ctrl key then click each document you require.
When you've selected your documents, release the Ctrl key and right-click the highlighted documents then choose Move to Folder.
Browse to the folder you want to move them to.
Click OK.

Rename a Folder

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Right-click the folder to be renamed then select Rename.
Enter a different name for the folder then click OK.

Delete a Folder

In LEAP, deleting a folder from the Details & Correspondence tab does not remove the documents inside it. Instead, the documents are moved to the top-level of the matter. This is intentional and ensures compliance with record-keeping requirements.

If you need to delete a folder and all of its contents, follow these steps:

Open the folder you want to delete.
Review the documents inside to determine the different file types (e.g., PDFs, Word documents, emails).

NOTE: LEAP only supports bulk deletion for files of the same format.

For a small number of files, use Ctrl + click to select individually, then right-click and delete.
For larger volumes, create sub folders for different filetypes and move .doc and .pdf files into one subfolder. Move email files into another subfolder.
Open each subfolder, press Ctrl + A, right-click, and select Delete.
Empty the contents of the folder - move the documents to another folder, location or delete them.
Once all contents are removed, right-click the empty folder and select Delete Folder.
Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

Retrieve a Deleted Folder

Once a folder is deleted, the contents of the folder are automatically moved to the root directory under 'Details and Correspondence'. To restore the original structure, the folder must be recreated manually, and the documents will need to be relocated back into the new folder.

Create a Document Folder

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Click New Folder.
Enter the Folder Name then press Enter key.

Move Documents to a Folder

Right-click the document on the Correspondence List that you wish to move into a folder.
Select Move to Folder.
Browse to the folder you want to move them to.
Click Move.

Rename a Folder

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Right-click the folder to be renamed then select Rename.
Enter a different name for the folder then press the Enter key.

Delete a Folder

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Empty the contents of the folder - move the documents to another folder, location or delete them.
Right-click the folder you wish to delete then select Delete.
