The LEAP Connector for Power BI enables secure access to LEAP data within Power BI via the LEAP API Gateway (Marketplace). This integration empowers clients with a robust and user-friendly reporting tool. Within Power BI users can query and fine tune data to create customized reports and dashboards tailored to the firm's requirements and needs with ease.

Minimum Requirements

The LEAP Connector for Power BI will require the following:

A LEAP Admin user account
A Microsoft Power BI Pro or Premium subscription for each LEAP Admin user that will be using the LEAP Connector for Power BI
A minimum 16GB of RAM, 32GB preferred
The latest version of Microsoft Power BI Desktop

Microsoft Power BI Free version is not supported by LEAP. Microsoft Power BI Pro or Premium ‘limited trial’ subscriptions are supported.

Downloading & Installing Power BI Desktop

You will need to install Power BI Desktop. This can be obtained from the Microsoft Store.

To install Power BI Desktop and LEAP Connector for Power BI please complete the following:

Click the LEAP Menu > Home > Power BI.
Click Download Power BI Desktop.

Power BI Desktop in the Microsoft Store will open in a new window.
Click Install or Get, and wait for the setup to be complete.

Authorizing the LEAP Connector

Before Power BI can query the LEAP API Gateway, you will need to authorize the LEAP Connector for Power BI.

Please complete the following within Power BI Desktop:

Select Get Data from other sources.
Enter LEAP in the search query, select LEAP (Beta) and press Connect.

Get Data will initially show a list of other connectors. Use search to narrow the results.
If you're getting data through the LEAP Connector for Power BI for the first time, a preview connector notice is displayed.
To sign into your LEAP Admin user account, click Sign in.

This window will appear for first time setup or when your credentials have been updated in LEAP.
The LEAP Authentication window will pop-up.

Sign In with your LEAP credentials and authorize the connector by selecting Allow if prompted by the permissions window.

Authorize the LEAP Connector

Confirm Permissions: Select Allow
Once you have signed in, you will returned to the previous window and there will be a confirmation indicating that You are currently signed in.
Select Connect to begin adding LEAP data to your report via the Navigator, alternatively you can press Cancel here and choose to use the Power BI Template instead.

Using the LEAP Default Report Template

The LEAP Connector for Power BI can be used with the LEAP Default Report Template, which contains five (5) pre-built Power BI dashboards.

Download the LEAP Default Report Template (Template).

Note: The download will start immediately.
From your downloads folder, double-click on the Template file (it has the .pbit file extension) to automatically open Power BI Desktop and load the Template.
If you still need to complete the steps listed under 'Authorizing the LEAP Connector', you will be prompted to do so.
Once the Template has loaded your firm's LEAP data as a new/untitled Power BI Report file, save this file. Note: This file will save as a Power BI Report file (with the .pbix file extension).
Edit your Power BI Report file as required.
